The Mt Kilimanjaro Climb for MS Research
Story
Hi Everyone!
My friend Gareth and I are climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in early January 2015 and we are aiming to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis Research in the process.
We are specifically dedicating the money we raise to the research of Professor Jelinek, the author of Overcoming Mutliple Sclerosis, who is undertaking new research into Multiple Sclerosis and the way lifestyle and diet changes can assist people with MS to effectively manage this disease. Professor Jelinek is conducting this research via St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne and we would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
Knowing that we are contributing to such an important cause will make us climb with more determination! (and hopefully help to counter my lack of fitness)..
Please help us to raise money for this important cause. Thanks so much for your support.
Activity
St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne) Ltd
Community support and generosity have been central to the story of St Vincent’s since our beginnings as a small cottage hospital in 1890s Fitzroy. Back then, we relied entirely on charitable donations to survive and thrive. Over 100 years later, we take our place as Victoria’s leading teaching hospital, with over 7,000 staff providing the best possible medical, surgical, emergency, mental health, palliative and aged care services to patients from backgrounds of all kinds.
In the last year alone, the St Vincent’s team have performed Australia’s first hand transplant, developed the world’s first warning device for epileptic seizures and opened an amazing new state-of-the-art Cancer Centre. For these reasons and many more, we are recognised locally and internationally for excellence in health care, research and innovation.
All this would not be possible without the continuing tradition of amazing community giving and support. We receive 70 per cent of our funding from government and bridge the gap in large part thanks to the generosity of our donors. With your help, we have the means to secure the best medical staff, technology and facilities for all our patients. Many thanks for your support!
